Sage (White) is the most common and powerful plant used for smudging and removing negative energies (smoke should be fanned with feather, never blown on, for a breath could contain negative energy). This is perfect for meditation, Reiki, crystal healing, crystal cleansing, Tarot readings or any other sacred practice. It can be ground and mixed with honey to create a less potent incense, or soak leaves in olive oil to create sage oil.
Healing Sage is a well regarded herb for women and can be especially helpful for relieving the hot-flashes of menopause and slowing heavy menstrual bleeding. It’s also good in herbal tea to dry up breast milk for weaning. Sage is an excellent digestive herb when used as seasoning in meals that include foods that are tougher to digest. As a tea with a hint of lemon, it is a valuable remedy for cold and flu symptoms. It has wonderful antibacterial and astringent properties, making it a popular choice in gargle tinctures for sore throats, gingivitis, and soar gums. It is also helpful in an herbal mixture as a substitute for tobacco for those who wish to quit.
